How Not To Blog

April 24, 2009 Blog

I have the Mr. Rogers theme song stuck in my head, because it is an absolutely beautiful day in the neighborhood.

Thank you Richmond, well Mother Nature. 80 degree weather this afternoon and highs in the 90's this weekend. I always wanted to be a meteorologist growing up. I would sit and watch the weather channel in my adolescence.

Flashing forward to reality:

I was able to squeeze in a workout and two mile run yesterday afternoon. Right after, it was an exhausting night of packing and magic erasing my walls in the townhouse. Advice* if you are planning to paint your walls, do not ever use flat antique white paint! It is a disaster when you have scuff marks and

I failed to mention that I am moving tomorrow downtown. I am really excited, but I hate the stress of moving and packing. Why can't I just hire movers and shakers... If only life were that simple. Right now I am typing my blog in text edit waiting for Comcast Internet to work again...

Just had the best workout this morning. I say waking up at 6AM for a 4.50 mile run, working on the core and free weights just wakes me up. It eases the stress before another long day at the office. Now I'm hungry. I am craving a parfait and in dyer need of protein in my system. I should've brought my trail mix. Shame on me. I'm starting to cut down on my carbs and incorporate more fish, protein, and veggies in my diet. I can't let carbs take over my life as I have the Filthy Run 5k, James River Scramble 10k, and Carytown 10k coming up on May 15-17. Check it out on Sportsbackers. It's going to be an exciting month of running! I just got to remember to pace myself, eat the right foods, and mind over matter.

I started an account on Yahoo last week regarding yahoo answers. I think its is one of the coolest sites to visit, because of the randomness of questions people have and how people nine times out of ten have the same question. It's an open forum and I use it in reference to anything running under the sports category. You'll find me as ThinkFastMoveFaster@ymail.com.

Beatuiful Dirty Rich

Good Afternoon World:

Another stunning day in good old Richmond. Second day in a row after a monsoon rain out that's forced me to be to run on treadmill. I'm starting to hate Lifefitness treadmills, something about the 9500 series that just doesn't seem right. I am eagerly waiting to get out of the office and go for a nine mile run! I took it light this week. I came in early and expecting to leave early, if there aren't any fires later today -cross my fingers.

I had a lot going on that prevented me from going the distance this week. Here is my venting grocery list:

  • I'm in the process of moving to a new apartment
  • Continuing packing and cleaning out my townhouse
  • So much going on at work
  • Desperately trying to catch up with friends
I'm in need of a vacation! But TGIF! Ready to run nine miles around the city and to Maymont and Byrd Park. A deserving beer (light beer!) in the end.

Here's an interesting website I checked out this week click me now. I am thinking about dropping my road running club and running with these amazing people. I never knew this existed. I felt the same when I saw Role Models with Devin and LAIRE - Google that one.

Cheers!

It just never stops raining in Richmond. It is more like monsoon season rather than Spring time. They were lying when they said April showers bring May flowers. Left Foot Still Sore

It was a beautiful day in Richmond unlike today -- I ran seven miles (8/9:00 minutes per mile) last Thursday and what a feeling of running in Spring weather. I ran from my townhouse on Parkwood Ave, down Main Street to the VCU Monroe Park Campus then up Franklin to Monument, down Boulevard did a U around Carytown and then ran to Byrd Park. Try mapping that route with Google Maps.

I let my legs and feet go wherever they please. It was great to be outside. I stretched as soon as I got home, stretching the hamstrings, legs and arms. Another beautiful day, I went to work and went running again after 5. I barely stretched and tried to go for another long run. Unfortunately it was cut down to about 3 miles due to my left foot. So I decided to take it easy for the weekend and pick it up Monday.

For some reason it was still sore, what could it be?! I don't think my foot was broken, I even massaged my foot. I laid off from running again.

The cause: It might have been stretching?? I was on mapmyrun.com and I entered a forum about stretching and Jeff Galloway on how stretching is not necessary and how we've evolved from animals into humans - how we shouldn't have to stretch especially in the AM.

I personally like to stretch before -- been stuck running on the treadmill and when its race day I usually stretch a bit longer to kill time but I think it has seldom influences to performance. But could the cause of my foot be from running on it, shoe? shoes too loose? There has got to be an explanation. I've never experienced this soreness either ever including shin splits.
